attend. There is no charge for the evaluation. Player's level placement will be determined only by Reed-Sweatt teaching
professionals. |
| |
 |
Maximum pro-to-player ratio for each class is 8 to 1. |
| |
 |
Priority for placement will be given to players from our summer program
and then last year. |
| |
 |
All players qualifying for the program will receive a T-shirt
each session they play. |
| |
 |
Sunday Matches are generally for ADVANCED and TOURNAMENT players. All
matches are supervised by a tennis professional. In some cases, other
players will participate due to our association with a USTA league. Reed-Sweatt
pays for all USTA-associated fees with these leagues. When matches are
versus other Reed-Sweatt players, each player will submit a self-evaluation
sheet of their match to the coach. |

| Jr. Program Player Levels-
General Descriptions |
| |
NOVICE This player is new to the game of tennis
or has been playing for less than two years, but can play a full-court
tennis match. They are just learning to play and judge where the ball is
going. They enjoy tennis as a recreational sport and have very little or no
match play experience. |
| |
INTERMEDIATE This is by far the largest
group of players with the largest range of abilities. Generally this player's
level within the group is determined by how
consistent they are when hitting medium-paced shots, but is not comfortable with all
strokes and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth, or
power. They typically have some match play experience for their high school
varsity or JV team. Also, they have a possible range of tournament
experience from none to many. |
| |
ADVANCED Generally players at this level are
varsity-level players on a high school team, or, in the case of younger
players, striving to play at this level in their age
group. Also, they have some tournament experience. They have achieved
improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots,
but need to develop depth and variety. They exhibit more aggressive net
play, have improved court coverage, and are developing teamwork in doubles. |
| |
TOURNAMENT Players exhibiting a high level of
tennis ability and are very committed to the sport of tennis. At minimum,
they have the goal of playing college tennis. These players usually play at
the top or very high on their high school team with the goal of qualifying
for the state tournament. Refinement of strokes, better shot selection, and
specific game development is the concentration in class sessions. |
